Otis Hope Carey Exhibition | The Slow

Otis Hope Carey Exhibition | The Slow

Otis Hope Carey is an Indigenous Australian pro-surfer and contemporary Indigenous artist that is making waves both in and out of the water. Having just launched a solo exhibition at The Slow, Canggu, Otis shares his contemporary Indigenous art with Bali for the first time.

Otis' work is deeply reflective of his cultural roots and the Gumbaynggir people, and Australian Aboriginal group of the mid north coast of NSW. The contour lines and movement of his work create a powerful viewing experience which marries visual immediacy with the spiritual and conceptual nature of Otis' contemporary practice.

His creativity does not stop at the canvas, with his unorthodox surfing style garnering international attention, and his eye for fashion seeing him working with Billabong. Beyond creativity, Otis has become a cultural icon admired for his public persona and bravado on topics like men's health. His artwork is currently being displayed at The Slow until the 1st of December.
